On Sin and Erasing People

I guess it could be worse, but could it?

Slowly allowing traffic to wear down a color.

Letting the weather freeze them out.

Plowing over them down to remove snow and ice.

Just not offering care where it is obviously needed.

Some would say this is okay –

It’s just an artistic mural on the street.

But is it, really?

Losing Pride

I avoid driving through this intersection and adding to the damage.

I weep when I walk by.

Because I don’t see the effects of traffic, weather, snowplows, or lack of resources.

I hear the cries of people:

Worn down by those who just brush past them.

Frozen out by the people threatened by others.

Removed by the unholy righteousness of judgment.

And of those ignored for being, just being.

It is not art I see being destroyed.

It is the sin of erasing people

a little at a time

symbolically

intentionally.

Erased.
